There’s an ad for Bud Light where they say they were going to make a 3-D ad for Bud Light, but that there were some problems with it. Then they show a bunch of people at a testing facility destroying TV-sets and running into one-way mirrors trying to grab the non-existent beer. Well, I think they’ve got the intelligence level of the average Bud Light drinker about right. But was showing us all how stupid the people who drink their beer are really what they were trying to do? Because if not, then I think they may be driving away some customers. But then again, apparently they’re pretty dumb, so maybe they won’t notice. In fact, that’s probably what they’re counting on.
Or maybe something else is going on here? Perhaps the drinkers of Bud Light aren’t all dumb, but rather, the marketing department is. For when they tested this ad, maybe what happened is that they unthinkingly just put a note up on a bulletin board asking for beer drinkers for an experiment. So then they probably just ended up with a bunch of alcoholics looking for free beer. And then when they showed them the 3-D beer bottles, they naturally tried to grab and drink them, thinking they were the free beer they thought they had been promised. (And I still think it's mean to tease alcoholics like that!)
Oh, who knows: Maybe they’re both dumb for drinking and for marketing crappy domestic mega-brand piss-water beer, respectively.
Here’s the ad (But you're not allowed to see it unless you're 21! And when it runs on TV, you have to cover your eyes and ears, unless you're old enough to legally drink alcoholic beverages!):
