What if we could have our cake and eat it too? I propose that the Federal Reserve print up lots and lots of money, but then say publicly that they won’t use it, and that it was a mistake to print it, etc. Then, they could just leave it out back behind their office building with the trash, and say that they “hope nobody takes it…” Then everybody could just go grab all the cash they need to create jobs and stimulate the economy, but the Fed can still say they didn’t introduce any extra money into the system! So we’d be doing both policies at once! It would be the best of both worlds!
I say it’s a win/win! Let’s do it tomorrow!
