I keep hearing everyone using the expression “willy nilly” these days, especially describing things as being “all willy nilly”. This is getting boring. Plus, with so many of our fashions mirroring those nostalgically unsightly threads of yesteryear, shouldn’t we also start peppering our phraseology with nostalgic tackiness as well? It just makes sense!
So, I propose embellishing the boring old “willy nilly” with the ironic reference to the 80s fake singing group Milli Vanilli, as in describing things as being: “all willy nilly like Milli Vanilli”. Then our contemporary language with have the same post modernist flavor of our current fashions! (And just as hiply ironic, to boot!)
