There is a funny news story that says lots of entities are buying up their names with the “.xxx” suffix to avoid having adult enterprises setting up naughty-themed websites with the entities’ names. This was illustrated in the article with colleges and universities who claimed to want to disassociate themselves from such explicit enterprises. But I think this is all a cover story: I’ll bet they’re just making sure they’re the first to register these names so that when their graduates can’t find jobs after getting a degree from said institution, they can get them to do their collegiate porno website, and then they can claim that many of their graduates have found employment in such desirable industries as entertainment, communications, marketing, information technology, photography, modeling, party planning, family planning, biology, etc. (all of which could be twisted out of internet porn by a savvy PR person). And then they can continue to gouge everyone for their ridiculously over-inflated tuition costs with claims that their degrees are worth the price! And hey, if there’s one thing that all the drinking, partying, and casual sex of college really prepares you for, it’s pornography! All they do is add a camera, and it’s just like every weekend most people spend in college.
