I’ll bet the guys who made this ad are very proud of how
groovy and fun it is. And they should be. But there’s a problem with this spot
nonetheless, which is that it serves to remind us of how few jobs are actually
associated with the American automotive industry these days. And after all the
taxpayer money we sunk into GM just for there to be a huge recall scandal, this
realization that we’ve mostly helped robotic arms dance in celebration is not
exactly what I’d call inspirational.
But the ad does look cool, especially if you’re a Jawa from Star Wars (They like droids a lot.):
