In this (joke) ad for a brand of chocolate bar, a father who is worried about his young children being abducted by sickos is trying to train them not to get into a car with a stranger. So he explains to his two kindergarten-aged kids (one boy and one girl) not to get into a car with a stranger, no matter what they say. Even if they want help looking for a puppy, say no. And even if they act offended, still say no, and run away. And then he says that even if they offer candy, they should still say no and run away. And the kids say they understand.
So to see what they have learned, the father rents a van and tests his kids. So he drives up and asks them to get in the car with him, and they come running. So he tells them to think of him as someone else who is not their father, and not to get into the car. So then he drives around the block again, and he asks his kids to get in the car, but they say no. So then he offers them a couple of (whatever brand of) chocolate bars, and the kids come running, cheering all the way. So the father tell them that was very bad, because they shouldn’t get in a car with a stranger with candy, because they might be a very bad man. So the kids say they’re sorry and they understand, and the father drives around the block again. So this time, the father asks the kids to get in the car, and they refuse, and so he offers them the candy bars again, and they come running again, cheering all the way. So the father scolds them, but as many times as he tries, the kids always come running for the chocolate bars, cheering all the way. So, resigned to failure, he gives his kids the candy bars and gives up.
Then the slogan could be: “(Whatever brand of chocolate bar): Kids just can’t resist them!”
(Could you see some chocolate bar company really making an ad like this? They’d get pilloried! But doesn’t it do what an advertisement should, as in, demonstrating the desirability of the product? {Actually, it does, but in an awfully inappropriate way, which is why it’s a joke ad. [And this is supposed to be cute and silly, not icky, so sorry if it comes off wrong. I’m trying to show a father attempting to teach his kids a valuable lesson, but with these chocolate bars getting in the way, foiling him at every step by being so yummy.]})
