Apparently Timex is planning on making a candy-covered
lollipop watch and a hard candy-covered wrist watch. This is to literalize
their long-standing and well-known slogan: “It takes a licking and keeps on
ticking.” This is believed to be the only way for watch makers to maintain a
toehold with students in the advent of cell phones.
The health bullies have objected to this plan, citing the
obesity epidemic, but hey: at least it will help the fat kids be on time and
cut down on truancy. And isn’t education performance important too? Or is it
just making sure kids can’t eat anything that tastes good anymore the only
thing that has merit nowadays?
