Now that Alabama has won three BCS National Championships in
four years, the first team to do so in the BCS era, and also the team with the
most National Championship titles, isn’t it about time they were the subject of
some product advertising? (Or is that against NCAA rules or something?) So here
is my proposed Tide laundry detergent ad for Alabama football, especially relevant due to their
well-known cheer: “Roll Tide!”
We see Alabama football players practice and play football
games, and in doing so, we see dirt, mud and grass stains get ground into their
white pants (and white away jerseys). So then the announcer says: “When the
Crimson Tide rolls across the field, they can leave quite an impact. And when
that impact also produces stains on their clothes, it’s time to roll out the
Tide!” Then the ad shows dirty football uniforms put into a big washing
machine, and when they come out completely clean, the announcer says: “Roll,
Tide, roll!” And the slogan could be: “Tide rolls in, stains roll out.”
