The slogan for John Deere tractors and farm equipment is: “Nothing runs like a Deere.” (It’s kind of like Trane air conditioning’s: “It’s hard to stop a trane.” {This slogan never helped sell an air conditioner to Superman, because it’s easy for Superman to stop a train, and a trane, so for him, this slogan seems dishonest.}) But you know, lots of animals run like a deer, and a deer is hardly the fastest animal. I think nowadays there are things deer are known for that are much more recognized as deer-specific than the way they run. Like, for example, nothing stops and stares frozen and immobile into headlights like a deer. Also, nothing in America runs into moving cars like a deer. And, it is a well-known fact that nothing spreads Lyme Disease like a deer. So perhaps one of these would make a better, more accurate and memorable slogan for a company called “Deere”? (You know, John Deere tractors are lime green, so maybe this one about Lyme Disease would be perfect! I can see the ads now: “Nothing spreads Lyme Disease like a Deere!”)
But you know, there’s one thing that people who tend to buy tractors have in common, and that’s a support of hunting and gun rights, so maybe another slogan might be more appropriate to show support for such things? So how about this: “Hunters love shooting at a Deere!” (Don’t you want to buy one now? Just remember to wear your orange vest! {And maybe your bullet-proof vest!})
