Holyroodhouse Show

I was watching a show about Holyroodhouse (where Mary, Queen of Scots reigned) on PBS recently, and the host was often put in part of the story as though she were Mary, Queen of Scots herself, just to illustrate what happened to her. Like, for example, we see this woman crossing the English Channel on a sailing ship of the period, and it’s all done to make us think of Mary doing it. And then we see her walking through the halls of some castle, and she says it’s just how Mary would have experienced it. But then she talks about the execution, and I was hoping they’d show a mock execution, and through CGI they’d place her face on the severed head, held up by the executioner so it could say: “This is what Mary’s execution would have been like. Notice that it took more than one blow to sever the head.” And then, since Mary was wearing a wig, apparently the head fell from the headsman’s hand as he held it up to the crowd, and it bounced down onto the platform in front of the crowd, after which it could say: “Ouch! Yes, this is what it was really like sometimes for an executed traitor.” And the crowd would run away from the talking severed head, accusing it of witchcraft. (And then they’d burn it, and she could explain that this is what happened to witches, etc. Except that they hanged witches in England, but since it’s only a head, what choice would they have?)
