Acura Robot Horserace Ad

Hmm, here we have a futuristic horserace where robot horses race to win. Oh, but just when you think this looks just like the robot dog race from the silly Absolut Vodka ad, we see a real horse appear, smashing through the robots and doing what looks like a racing version of slam-dancing, and then the ad says: “Acura: Performance that changes the game, a power that goes beyond the machine.”

Hey, that sounds suspiciously like steroids to me! A real horse beating robot horses? How come they can’t beat the horseless carriage? I smell a rat!

These new Acuras have got to be juicing, probably with gasoline! (Cheaters.)

But this ad shows a real horse beating a bunch of machine horses at a race, so is the real message here that natural organisms are better modes of transportation than machines? So maybe we should all just jog or ride a horse everywhere and nobody should buy cars anymore? (It might be better for the environment, so maybe this is the hidden message?)

Here’s the performance enhance-y spot:

And here’s the absolut-ly silly robot dog racing ad:

(BTW: I know I made fun of this Absolut Vodka ad before, but I can’t find it.)

You know, I'm thinking this might have been a better ad for STP Gas Treatment, or something like that, saying: "Makes your horsepower more powerful than anything else!"
