Olympic Ladies Figure Skating

I hope everyone understands what’s going on here. This is going to be the greatest ladies figure skating competition ever held. I hope nobody misses it.

The ice dancing this week was by far the best ice dancing competition ever held, and the announcers all said so after we all saw it was. Sometimes the announcers, being experts, see things we don’t at home. But this time, we all agree.

Oh, but if you thought that was good, just watch today and tomorrow. People will be talking about this for years to come. The best skaters, and so many of them: amazing!

Wow, usually you can predict who will win, but seriously, this time, anyone could win (from the top 10 or so). And we have the best of all time in this Olympics, I think. No, really: I follow this sport, and I have never seen so much talent all at one time in the same competition.

Ones to watch:

Yuna Kim: The Queen, she’s almost always perfect at this level of competition.

Mao Asada: She wants it, she was gypped out of competing at Torino when she would have won easily, and she won silver last time, but she wanted the gold. She was once the best ladies singles skater who ever lived, no joke, and she could be again.

Gracie Gold: She’s got the ability, but can she bring it and beat the best? No matter her result, we will all love seeing her, and her future is golden. What a star she is going to be!

Julia Lipnitskaia: The most exciting skater in the world right now, no kidding. (Just watch her and you will see for yourself.) But does that equal gold?

Adelina Sotnikova: Another Russian wonder, and she beat Lipnitskaia at home two years running for national champion, and this competition is in Russia.

Carolina Kostner: I have had mixed feelings about her in the past, as I thought she was cheated up years ago to win podium spots to prevent an Asian sweep in European cities, but I have never seen her skate like she did in the team SP. If she skates like that, she could win, and I would cheer.

Ashley Wagner: People bitched and moaned about her being selected for the Olympic team, but she has been the best American ladies singles skater for the past few years, earning the third spot on the team at Worlds, and finishing on the podium at the Grand Prix Final two years in a row: for an American singles skater these days, that’s really amazing. She’s been in the top of the world before, and she could do it again…

Kanako Murakami: She just won the Four Continents, so maybe here too?

Akiko Suzuki: She is always really good, and has made a lot of podiums. Maybe this one too?

Polina Edmunds: The wild card! Could she be the next Tara Lipinski for America?
