Microsoft Steve Gleason Super Bowl Ad

Here we have an inspiring ad that shows technology being used to help disabled people, with prosthetic and bionic limbs, and former NFL player Steve Gleason speaks to us in a set-up similar to what we’re all familiar with Stephen Hawking using. And this is really great and everything, but since this is an ad for Microsoft, I begin to worry about people hacking into these systems and ruining all of this great technology for the people who need it. You see, I remember the 1990s through the 2000s, and Microsoft stuff was being hacked all over the place, and generally had the most hacker vulnerabilities and programming bugs of any system. And when it’s just a computer, that’s bad enough; but when it’s someone’s bionic arm, or a speech device, then a hack could be really bad, and really ruin someone’s life.

This would have been a more assuring inspiration if it were from a company with a better record, frankly. But hopefully they’re better at the security stuff nowadays, and my concerns here are unfounded. (But I’ll believe it when I see it.)

Here’s the hacking good show:
