A puffin is struggling to open a bottle of Coke when a polar
bear appears and points to his mouth. Then the puffin gets the idea to open the
bottle with his beak, but tragically, the polar bear was not trying to show him
how to open the bottle, but was instead indicating he was about to eat the
puffin, which the polar bear then proceeds to do in this horrifying ad for Coca
Cola. Oh, oops: that’s not what happens in the ad; that’s what would happen in
real life, only without the bottle of Coke. So I guess in this case it’s a good
thing that advertising is not always so honest and accurate.
This is a longer version of the ad I saw during Olympics
coverage:
Why do people care so much about polar bears anyway when
they are clearly trying to get aquatic birds hooked on sugary drinks and make
them obese. Maybe they’re just fattening them up for the slaughter?
