We all know the
Steve McQueen movie Bullitt, right? Well, in that movie, a guy in a
fastback Mustang chases and catches bad guys in a Dodge Charger who then wipe
themselves out and die. Well, I could see Dodge saying Bullitt is Bull(sh)itt,
because that awesome Charger would have smoked that wimpy Ford pony car. And
then they’d show us what would have really happened in that
kind of situation, and we see the Charger ride up next to the Ford Mustang at a
red light, and even with Steve McQueen driving it, the Mustang can’t handle the
race, and the Charger just peels out into the distance in a cloud of dust,
leading Steve McQueen to mourn: “I can’t catch him! I should have bought a
Dodge!” And then they’d say that’s why Bullitt is Bull(sh)itt.
(Too bad the current Dodge Chargers aren’t like the old ones, or else this ad
might work for real for the new Charger. The Ford Mustangs are pretty sweet
these days, though. And the Dodge Challengers are great too.)
