Walmart has been running ads lately where they are claiming to sink lots of money into creating American manufacturing jobs. And this one I just saw says they will be buying products made by American factories, and it uses the great Rush song “Working Man”.
But seeing as how this ad is claiming to support American workers, why did they outsource the music to a Canadian band? It just seems like it would have been more consistent with their message to use an American band’s song when they’re touting what they’re doing to support American jobs and products.
Nothing against Rush: this is just a messaging issue for this ad. And while the content of the song is undeniably perfect, everybody knows Rush is Canadian. And while we all love Canada, this ad is talking about supporting American jobs and products, so an American song would have worked better to support their claims.
Here’s the working man’s ad:

They really ought to use an American song, so how about: “Take This Job and Shove It”?
