Amex Black Card Ad

Yes, this is the ad which uses the AC/DC song: “Back in Black”.

Okay, so this woman is definitely hot, but from the way everyone is treating her, she’s obviously some kind of drug lord. So, is American Express really cultivating the drug-lord market? Is that the only growth market for them to exploit with the current lousy recession economy around the world? Even so, I wouldn’t advise it; drug lords are notoriously tough customers, and if they decided not to pay their bill, you’d have to eat it. And your repo men would most certainly be killed if you tried sending any. Plus, if you’re trying to get a card going for mostly drug lords, aren’t their turf wars going to spill out into your credit card business? I thought drug gangs insisted people do business exclusively with them alone or else risk torture or death. But hey: maybe Amex wants to learn that for themselves. (I heard they like “living on the edge”!)

So good luck with that, guys! But if we find a shallow grave in Mexico full of American Express executives some time in the future, I think we’ll all know what happened.

Here’s the ad (although you’ve probably all seen it by now):

There is one thing, however, that puzzles me. After the helicopter flies over her house, she rides her motorcycle down the street to get picked up somewhere else. Does she do that just so we have an excuse to see her in that skin-tight black leather jumpsuit? Or couldn’t they pick her up on the beach without sandblasting her face off? Or perhaps she’s too poor to afford a heliport on her roof? (What a loser!)
