I just saw the beginning of some promo for a show on A&E, and the first thing the announcer said, before I could hit the mute button, was: “The critics agree!” And then the mute button kicked in, and there was a pregnant pause hanging over from the unfinished idea of what the critics were agreeing about. So I finished the thought for them, with the complete presentation being thus:
“The critics agree! It’s great making a cushy living bashing other people’s work!”
And I’ll bet that on this, the critics will all, always agree!
