WGBH Boston's Mystery Shows
I have noticed that some of my favorite British mystery shows are sponsored by WGBH in Boston. I used to wonder why a station in Boston was doing this, as opposed to one in New York or Los Angeles, but then I realized it has nothing to do with the city, but rather it's the call letters: WGBH. Because apart from the W (which is a mandatory prefix letter for broadcast networks in the U.S.), it's GBH, which is a violent criminal offense in England. And so it's only natural that a TV station with the call letters WGBH would be involved in such violent, mysterious, police-oriented programming: GBH is right there in their name.
