This morning, at President Obama’s debt-ceiling press conference, I noticed a plaque on the wall, which reads: “James S. Brady Press Briefing Room”. I’m pretty sure this was meant to honor the man who was shot during the 1981 assassination attempt against President Reagan (especially since he was Reagan's Press Secretary), but does it really do that? This is a room where mostly slanted questions, spin and lies are spoken day-in and day-out. It seems to me this would tend to dishonor, rather than honor a person. But, hey: I didn’t even know about it until today, so maybe if he’s lucky, nobody else will notice it’s named after him either.
