I just saw a promo ad for Master Chef where they said the contestants were going to cook at the host/judge’s restaurant. (!!!) Oh my God!!!! How can they????? (So what.) So they said that the contestant’s lives are on the line, and that the host’s reputation is on the line! Aaaaa! They’re all going to die! And he’s going to be ruined! (At least, I hope so!)
But seriously, how are their lives on the line? Is that pompous host chef guy going to stab them with a huge kitchen knife like Michael Myers from Halloween if they fail? I doubt it! (But it would be awesome!) And this chef guy, his reputation is really on the line here? But isn’t he always a bossy jerk, mercilessly harassing and haranguing his contestant wannabe chefs at every opportunity? If I were one of them, especially one who knew they weren’t going to win, I’d screw everything up on purpose, just to ruin his reputation!
But we all know that’s not going to happen! Because we all know this whole thing is staged to being with! His “restaurant” is probably just a set, and even if it is his actual, real restaurant, you know there are disclaimers all over the menu or on the outside of the restaurant warning people there are these lame reality-show actors posing as chefs cooking tonight! Plus, I’ll bet all the “restaurant patrons” are directly imported from Central Casting! So we all know they’ll pretend to love the food anyway, or else they’ll never work again!
Reality shows: the only thing that’s real about them is how much they real-ly suck!
