Women’s World Cup Soccer

During the Brazil vs. United States game today, after a defensive error by the United States (the thing that lost them the last game against Sweden), the Brit announcer said: “The Americans are really kicking themselves over this…” Did you catch that? He said: “(They’re) kicking themselves!” Get it? Because they’re playing soccer? Ha ha ha! And you play soccer by kicking a ball, right? Kicking themselves (like, as opposed to the ball): that’s a good one! Ha ha ha! Oh, sorry…

And then he referred to the host nation, Germany, as being “thrown out of the tournament”! That’s really inappropriate of him to say that! Because you’re not allowed to use your arms or hands in soccer, except for a “throw-in”! So you couldn’t possibly throw someone out! (You could kick them out, however!) What a dumb, inconsistent jerk, especially after that “kicking themselves” comment that worked so well within the soccer milieu! (Dumbass!)

Then, on top of that, when one of the US players was red-carded, this guy says: “Now they’ll have to play a man down.” Hell-o! This is Women’s Soccer! I don’t think they can go a man down, seeing as how they’re not allowed to have any men on the team! What an idiot!

And just to add insult to injury, after the US went down by a goal in the first half of extra time, this jackass says: “Those black shirts are going to have to try and make something happen now” if they don’t want to be eliminated. Um, this is the United States vs. Brazil: Nobody is wearing black shirts! The Americans’ shirts are navy blue! Hello!

This was on ESPN, so you’d think they would have somebody announcing for them who knew something about soccer, or that it’s a women’s game, or what color shirts people would be wearing on the field! But no dice. What did they do, just run outside and grab the first dumbass they could find with a British accent, hoping they might know something about soccer? That’s what it seems like!
