Any time you can use great music to your advantage in a TV commercial, do it! This ad for Major League Soccer uses the great Black Flag song "Rise Above", and it automatically makes the ad great! That blistering tone and aggressive sound and feel, it's just so perfect for sports.
But it seems like other ads sometimes go out of their way to avoid using great music. It's frankly silly that the Daytona 500 didn't use that great song "Daytona" by Zeke in the TV spots for the race. (The song "Daytona" is actually about motorcycle racing, but it could be edited for the Daytona 500 ad easily enough.) In fact, Zeke really ought to be the official soundtrack of NASCAR.
