The Date Rape Drug

I keep hearing about this thing called “the date rape drug” on the news and stuff. I’ve always wondered why a pharmaceutical company would develop and market a date rape drug. I mean, wouldn’t the name of it make some people upset and boycott it, as well as the company's other products? But hey, I guess it must sell well, or else they’d stop making it. Maybe after they developed Viagra, they realized nobody would want to sleep with a bunch of horny old men anyway, so they had to develop something to solve that problem. But you know, there must be some corruption or something going on in the FDA if they’ve approved a drug for use in date rapes, right? I mean, just think about what would have gone into the approval process for that. It just seems immoral all around to me. But even after it was approved, you’d think they could have at least come up with a better name for it than “the date rape drug”, like maybe Daterapitol or something. But then again, I suppose if they really want to sell it, they had to consider the fact that date-rapists are a bunch of stupid meat-heads, so if it had a medical-y-sounding name, they might not be able to figure out what to get. But I still find it a bit surprising that there is a pharmaceutical product still out there called “the date rape drug”. You’d think they would have banned it by now. After all, the government has banned Darvon, but they’re still permitting the marketing, sales and distribution of the date rape drug? I’m telling you: the system is broken!
