A few days ago, I posted a piece expressing confusion over the title of the current movie release: The Fast and the Furious Five. Well, they’ve obviously responded to my concerns, since a new ad I’ve just seen for the movie simply lists it as: Fast Five.
This is a really good editorial decision with regard to the name of this film. The original name of the movie seemed too cumbersome and complicated to really denote any kind of speed-related excitement. But with this new title: Fast Five, they’re showing us they haven’t got time for extraneous stuff like articles and conjunctions, man! Hell, they haven’t even got time for adjectives unrelated to issues of rapidity and quickness. Who’s got time to be furious when you’re one of the “Fast Five”? Plus, if you say it really fast, it sounds kind of like “French Fries”, and that sounds hot!
