I was sort of listening to the water polo game between the
USA and Great Britain while I was writing just now, and they said, after the
end of the first period, that the score was “USA over Great Britain by a
fistful” of points (the score was 5-0). So
a fistful is only five?
Really?
So, does this mean that in the movie A Fistful of Dollars, all that fighting and stuff was over just
five dollars?
Holy crap! Wow, inflation really has made our money practically worthless over
time, hasn’t it? I can’t imagine anyone going to all that trouble for five
dollars anymore! (Maybe it was five dollars in gold? Nah, that would only be a
crumb, and they’d just lose it!)
(I wonder if Clint Eastwood’s character knew going in that after risking his life, getting beaten half to death, and being involved in all those gunfights and killings and stuff, he’d only be walking away with five dollars? Oh well, at least he got paid something for his trouble.)
