There are lists all over the Internet of the dumbest song
titles of all time. They have some fun ones, but I would contend they’re
missing one of the all time greats of
dumb song titles. I mean, sure, Country songs will always have lots of silly
titles, but are they really dumb,
or just colorful? No, I would contend the dumbest song title of all is one that
doesn’t make anyone’s list: “Long Stick Goes Boom”, by Krokus.
Oh, but this song doesn’t just have a stupid title, for it’s
also a sound-alike AC/DC song from a whole album of AC/DC wannabe rip-offs! In
fact, it sounds so much like AC/DC, most
people think it is AC/DC! (Now
surely being a sound-alike rip-off of another band has to count for extra
credit, right? And it’s also a great song!) Oh, and this song has the added
advantage of trying to use all of the double-entendre sexual suggestion of an
AC/DC song, but written by people for whom English is not their first language (!). And that means they’re
going to make a hilarious sex metaphor for the ages: “Long Stick Goes Boom”!
Seriously, there are a lot of silly songs titles out there,
but can you really think of one that’s worse than this? I challenge you to find
me one! (But I’m already prejudiced in favor of this one, so it’s useless!) And
this song is great, too! But doesn’t it sound like some dumbass put an M-80 in
their urethral meatus and blew it up to get on YouTube? (I don’t think that was
the image they were going for, somehow…)
