With the advertised release of the upcoming box office extravaganza: The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, I couldn't help but hear it as "The Desolation of Smog" in my mind, and then apply it to an electric car. (Help, help: I'm advertising crazy!) I decided on the Tesla, since friends of mine own and like them. So here's how this ad would work:
We would open on a desolate gray cityscape, with destruction everywhere and thick clouds of gray smoke hanging in the air. Then we'd see a dragon fly by and breathe fire, burning everything we see, causing thick black smoke to billow up into the air and block our vision, as we hear the announcer say: "Once upon a time, the auto industry was a great dragon, laying waste to our cities and filling our skies with pollution and smog." Then we'd see a Tesla electric car driving into frame, and as it drives, it brings clean air and blue skies and color streaming behind it like a motor boat creates a wake in the water, and the announcer says: "But then, a hero emerged from the wasteland, and showed us the way to a cleaner country and a brighter future." Then we see the Tesla race towards the dragon, and the dragon opens its mouth to swallow the Tesla, and the Tesla drives into the dragon's mouth; and just when we think the Tesla has been consumed, it bursts forth from the dragon's tail, causing the dragon to disintegrate in a cloud of smoke, which rises and disappears, leaving blue skies and renewing the city. Then we see people emerge from the ruins of the city to look at the Tesla and cheer, and the announcer says: "And they lived happily ever after."
