David Gregory will not be charged for illegal possession of an extended ammo magazine. (So I guess we can all have one: Yay! Just host some “news” show on YouTube and you’re clear!) He even asked if he could get one for use on his show, Meet the Press, and law enforcement told him he could not, because it was illegal. Well, in the spirit of most gun crimes, he did it anyway, proving that gun laws don’t work.
I guess this was Mr. Gregory’s intent all along, seeing as how he’s such a right-wing gun nut who demands our Constitution be respected no matter the cost in human life. But will his news cohorts hold his feet to the fire for effectively invalidating the gun control law argument, or will they simply give him a pass because he is one of them? I wonder…
But this surely demonstrates the flaw in most gun control efforts: Law-abiding citizens respect and obey the law, while vicious criminals like David Gregory simply ignore the law and use illegal guns in any way they choose.
So chalk up another news media hypocrisy point. Or was that his point all along: to show the hypocrisy of his own industry, even at the cost of his own freedom? (Hee hee: I doubt it! Obviously he’s just a murderer who was caught before he could strike by showing his crime {well, one of them, anyway: that of criminal possession of an illegal firearm thingy} on TV, like so many other criminals brag about their crimes on Facebook and YouTube. Funny, I thought he’d be smarter than that… Guess not.)
Now I’m only kidding here, but one serious point: If law enforcement will not prosecute the most heinously corrupt among us (i.e.: politicians and the news media) when they break the law, then doesn’t that send the message that way nicer people like murderers and drug cartels will be able to get away with it too? Because I’m not so sure that’s a good idea.
